Four members of the Orono High School softball team participated in the 2012 ASA 16U Class A Elite National Tournament in Montgomery, Ala. July 30 through Aug. 5. Orono players (pictured left to right above) Becky Smith, Madison Arends, Samantha Hartmann and Shelby Earley were starters on the Minnesota Renegades summer elite travel team. The Renegades is an elite level club made up of individual players from around the metro area. In order to become a member, players must tryout prior to the fall season. The team placed 49th out of 150 fast-pitch teams from across the country and ahead of the other Minnesota teams in the tournament.
