The city of Maple Plain’s 100th birthday was celebrated Saturday with events that began at 8:30 a.m. and ran until midnight. Among the activities was a community parade, which featured local politicians, public safety officials, clubs, organizations and clowns. Other events included a 5K, a craft fair, a classic car show, museum tours and a street dance featuring live music.  In addition to celebrating the past, city leaders also took time during the festivities to look to the future when they held a groundbreaking ceremony for the park-and-ride lot that is being constructed on Baker Park Road.
