The Girls Varsity Soccer team did not disappoint its fans in the third game of the season walking away with a 3-0 win against Hutchinson on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
The White Hawks dominated play from the start in this game and scored the first goal when Molly Wollner looped in a well-placed shot in the upper left corner of the net off a direct pass from Katey Nelson.
Danielle Schoenecker scored the second goal of the game on a penalty kick earned by Tori Anderson, who was fouled driving toward the Hutchinson goal.
The third goal came late in the second half when Anderson fed a pass to Wollner who blasted a shot in the upper right corner of the net. Goalie Koerner registered her first shutout of the season in this game.
The tide turned, however, when the team took on Holy Family on Thursday, Sept. 6. Holy Family came on strong in the first minutes of the game and kept up the pressure throughout. In an unfortunate collision, the White Hawks lost starting players senior Quinn Leonard and senior Courtney Koerner to injury in the middle of the first half. The team struggled and the White Hawks registered their first loss of the season 0-11.
The team traveled to Waconia on Saturday, Sept. 8 for their fifth game of the season. During an evenly played first half, the White Hawks scored first with a goal by sophomore Lana Fitz. A nicely placed pass from senior Katey Nelson assisted Fitz. The goal was the only for the White Hawks, and Waconia scored twice in the second half to walk away with the win.
The next home game for the Girls Varsity Soccer Team is against Orono High School on September.
