Though the day was cold and windy, Orono students and members of the community lined Old Crystal Bay Road to watch the homecoming parade Oct. 5. The parade featured local police and fire departments, student groups and athletic teams. Later that evening, the football team shut out Mound Westonka for a 28-0 homecoming victory. Other Spartan teams also earned homecoming wins earlier in the week including the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams and the girls’ swimming and diving squad. See page 8 for sports stories. Homecoming week began at the district Oct. 1. with the coronation of Hannah Deters as queen and Noah Schultz as king. Other events throughout the week included a Powder Puff game, variety show and a dance.
