The Mound Masonic Lodge gave $16,210 to the Westonka Food Shelf this week after a month long donation program was carried out with help from the community.

The Masonic Lodge collected donations for the food shelf up to the end of February, and every dollar that was given was matched by the organization. The Masonic Lodge thanked members of the community and many area organizations for help in raising the food shelf donations.

“We appreciate the donations from other organizations in town,” said Mound Masonic Lodge Secretary Brad Wolfe.

The masons said they appreciated help from the members and the foundation of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Northwest Tonka Lions, St. Boni Lions, St. Boni Legion, Mound American Legion, Mound American Legion Auxiliary and members of the Westonka community.

The food shelf organizers said they were grateful for the donation.

“Thank you to the Masons and the community,” said Food Shelf Director Jack Weist.
