Two members of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office received prestigious awards March 19 for their work in enhancing public safety on waterways in the county.

The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District named Special Deputy John Feyder “Special Deputy of the Year” for his outstanding work during last spring’s high water declaration on Lake Minnetonka.

Special Deputies are civilian volunteers. After extensive training, qualified volunteers are sworn in to conduct patrols on land and water, enhance community outreach efforts and provide safety education.
