15 gymnasts from Maple Plain’s North Shore Gymnastics boys’ team competed at the 2015 MN Boys’ State Championship held at Wayzata Central Middle School in Plymouth on March 21-22. Boys from all over the state competed at the meet hosted by Mini-Hops Gymnastics in Minnetonka. North Shore Gymnastics Association’s (NSGA) boys’ gymnasts did very well in the competition with five individual first place finishes.
NSGA’s Level 10 gymnast, Levi Gustafson (age 17, Bryant, South Dakota) competed in the age 17-18 category and won the bronze medal on floor and placed fifth on parallel bars and sixth on vault. Gustafson also finished sixth All Around with a score of 71.60.
Level 9 gymnast, Charlie Kramer (age 13, Minnetrista) competed in the age 13-14 group and placed fifth on floor and pommel horse and sixth on rings.
NSGA Level 8 gymnasts, Max Bortnem (age 13, Minnetrista) competed in the age 13-14 category and won the silver medal on floor and the bronze medal on vault. Bortnem also placed fifth on pommel horse, parallel bars and in All Around with a score of 53.80.
The NSGA Level 6 team finished sixth with a score of 149.80. Ryan Klump (age 11, Plymouth), won the gold medal on floor, pommel horse, rings and parallel bars. Klump also won the gold medal in All Around with a score of 58.90 and placed fifth on high bar. Teammate William Wehmann (age 11, Independence) finished fifth on floor and parallel bars. Haden Paravecino (age 11, Mound) also had a strong meet and contributed to the team’s overall results.
The Level 5 team finished third with a score of 172.40. Henry Meisel (age 8, Mound) competed in the age 8 category and won the silver medal on floor, high bar and in All Around with a score of 62.60. Meisel also was awarded the bronze medal on pommel horse and vault. Levi Sherman (age 9, Maple Plain) competed in the age 9 group and finished fourth on high bar and sixth on floor. Teammates Jacob Carlson (age 8, Victoria) and Logan Felknor (age 8, Delano) all had strong meets and contributed to the team’s overall finish.
NSGA’s Level 4 boys’ team had a ninth place finish with a score of 160.10. Beau Merz (age 8, Delano) placed fourth on vault. Teammates Teddy Johnson (age 7, Minnetrista), Adam Maisch (age 9, Watertown), Marek Dykoski (age 6, Minnetrisa) and Ian Johnson (age 6, Delano) all had strong meets and contributed to the team’s overall finish.
