The White Hawks put the new scoreboard at Haddorf Field to good use last Thursday by leading a one-sided kickfest against the Glencoe-Silver Lake Panthers.

The tempo of the match was set early with strong shots on goals from many players and freshmen Maya Thurston was the first to score following a strong assist from the goalpost. Following an excellent throw in from junior Ava Wagner and an assist from Junior Katie Priefer, junior Tatum

Anderson scored the second goal. Junior Emma Kerr’s powerful corner kick landed in front of the Panthers net and junior Peyton Mullins took advantage of the opportunity to score the third goal for the White Hawks.
Anderson and Priefer repeated an assist and kick combination that yielded the fourth score right before the end of the first half.

Senior Sara Jones set up plays with her long kicks into the Panthers’ territory and senior captain Lana Fitz did the same with a head shot setting up Thurston for her second goal. Junior captain Lila Finney’s speed and footwork assisted junior Sheridan Nygard in scoring the sixth goal. Junior Christi Wannous set up Thurston for a hat trick and the seventh and final goal of the evening.

Sophomore goalie Maddie Gutekunst received very little action and when the Panthers entered the White Hawks’ half of the field as senior captain Ashley Luehmann and juniors Megan Lachenmayer and Sophie Buettner did not let the Panthers get in any challenging shots.
