Studies show that communities where art is present are active, vibrant, aesthetic spaces in which to live. Art shows also give artists a voice, a home, and an opportunity to connect and dialogue with their neighbors, friends and new acquaintances.
The annual Long Lake Area Art Show’s mission is to create a venue for local and regional artists to display and sell their artwork, and to provide a fun family event for the community. Locaed in the Orono High School Cafeteria, at 795 North Old Crystal Bay Road, the event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show is free of charge to the public.
This event is organized by local artists and sponsored by local businesses. Several local and regional artists will be showing their unique art work under one roof, giving viewers the opportunity to enjoy a variety of handmade art, painting, photography, pottery, jewelry, fabric art, wood art, fused glass et cetera, all in a comfortable setting.
This year there will be free art demonstrations at the art show. Additionally, work of Orono high school students will be showcased, a temporary henna tattoo artist will be on-site and soft harp music will be provided by a young, talented local musician, Sonia Driskill.
It’s the perfect place to find unique gifts for yourself or your loved ones, well in advance of the typical holiday rush. There is still space available for new artists working in clay , metal, fiber, wood, water color or other media.
