During the month of November, the Mound Fire Department responded to eight fire related calls and 33 medical related calls, for a total of 41 callouts for the month. The total callouts year-to-date for Mound Fire Department is 502.
In November, the Mound Fire Department was busy with public relations and safety events as staff did the annual ice safety presentations to approximately 400 – 500 primary school students at Hilltop and Shirley Hills Elementary School. Fire department staff also did a first aid presentation to a group of Girl Scouts and participated in the annual community tree lighting event. The Mound Fire Department Auxiliary held their annual Turkey Bingo on Nov. 17 and had a record number of participants.
On Nov. 4 at 4:23 p.m. the Mound Fire Department was dispatched to a report of capsized boat and persons in the water on Priest Bay. Upon arrival on scene, the individuals had managed to swim to shore in the cold water, were out of the water and being assessed by ambulance personal. There were no serious injuries.
