Face painter releases fifth book – Gretchen Fleener, longtime face painter from Mound, put out her fifth book on face painting in early 2015. “Realist for Face and Body Artists” showcased her skill and artistic background through detailed instructions and extensive images.

Historical societies team up – The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka, Wayzata and Westonka Historical Societies collaborated to collect and organize historical photos of Lake Minnetonka for the book, “Images of America: Lake Minnetonka.” Authors Joanie Holst, Lisa Stevens and Elizabeth Vandam created an glimpse of lake life from the 1860s to the 1950s.

Mound woman creates “Lake Minnetonka Eats” – Tiffany Winter collaborated with 25 Lake Minnetonka restaurants to create this cookbook highlighting local restaurants around the lake including Scotty B’s, The Narrows Saloon, Dakota Junction, Lord Fletcher’s, Al & Alma’s and more.

Local helps launch TV show – McCally-Lee Entertainment, part of which is Mound area resident Randy Lee, set out to make a documentary/reality show on hockey moms in the Minnesota area. “Hockey Moms” held a casting call in September and the show premiered on Dec. 26.

Man writes book based on youth in Mound – Dale Swanson, who grew up on Island Park in Mound, wrote “The Wild Ways: Mystery of the Hanging Tower,” released in December. The fantasy and mystery book is intended for about ages 7-14 and is set on Island Park in Mound.
