CONDENSED MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION HELD ON FEBRUARY 13, 2017

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Orono Independent School District No. 278 was held on Monday, February 13, 2017 and called to order by board chairman at 7:15 pm

UPON MOTION by Sarah Borchers, seconded by Dick Lewis, the consent agenda was approved as follows:

– approved the minutes of the regular board meeting from January 23, 2017

– approved the resignation due to retirement of Kristen Thatcher, full-time teacher at Orono Intermediate School, effective June 9, 2017.

– approved the resignation due to retirement of Kathryn Crofutt, full-time teacher at Orono Intermediate School, effective June 9, 2017.

– approved the resignation of Annie Arnold, teacher at Orono Schumann Elementary, effective June 9, 2017.

– approved the 0.4 FTE leave of absence for Jessica Curtis, full-time teacher at Orono High School, effective for the 2017-2018 school year.

– approved the 0.2 FTE leave of absence for Heidi Mohagen, full-time teacher at Orono Intermediate School, effective for the 2017-2018 school year.

– approved the continuation of a part-time shared teaching assignment for Janelle Froiland, at Orono Schumann Elementary School, effective for the 2017-2018 school year.

– approved the continuation of a part-time shared teaching assignment for Laura Savat, at Orono Schumann Elementary School, effective for the 2017-2018 school year.

– approved the termination of Lawrence Barnes, classroom paraeducator at Orono Intermediate School, effective January 26, 2017.

– approved the resignation of Teresa Villaume, part-time group leader at OK Kids, effective January 26, 2017.

– accepted donations totaling $34,168.74

– approved January 2017 electronic fund transfers

– approved December 2016 treasurers report

– approved bill vouchers 197805-198115, EP register 8005221-8005278, control pay advance vouchers 4416-4457.

9. New Business

A. Long Term Facilities Maintenance

Justin McCoy, Coordinator of Facilities & Safety, presented the Long Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) plan. The LTFM outlines a long term approach to maintaining our facilities. Due to changes in the funding source, the district now has access to Long Term Facilities Maintenance revenue to maintain all the districts facilities. The program began with the 2016-2017 fiscal year and replaces the deferred maintenance and Health & Safety programs.

The next regular meeting is Monday, February 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the District Office Assembly Room followed by a workshop session.

UPON MOTION by Sarah Borchers seconded Dick Lewis by the meeting was adjourned at 8:02 pm
