The Orono 12U Blue girls fastpitch team placed second in Tier 6 at the Minnesota Fastpitch Tournament. The tournament was held on July 8 and 9 at Champlin Park Fields.

The girls played a total of seven games, battling their way back from the loser’s bracket and beating Annandale to face Chaska for the championship game, which they lost. The loss resulted in the girls placing second in the tournament.

In a notable mid-tournament game against Cambridge-Isanti, Orono tied the game leading to an extra inning which they also tied, which led to another extra inning, which they again tied leading to a third and final extra inning. The game came to an end with Orono scoring six runs to win 13-12. The epic game, which should have lasted 75 minutes, lasted nearly three hours, leaving the girls exhausted but elated and earning the umpire minor celebrity and much jesting from his brethren.

The team was coached by Andrea Tysdal with Assistant Coach, Daniel Sanden and with support from Team Manager Elizabeth Kallay.
