At approximately 4 p.m. on Aug. 10, Orono Police responded to a truck turn over on North Shore Drive, near North Arm Drive in Mound.

According to Orono Police Chief Correy Farniok, traffic was detoured from the road for several hours while crews worked to clear the roadway.

The truck was carrying a load of dirt when the accident occurred.
Farniok said that the truck wasn’t necessarily over filled, however “speed and weight were both factors in the accident.”

No injuries were reported on scene.

Farniok said that he could not recall any similar accidents occurring in that location in recent times, however he said that accidents have occurred in the curves around Lake Minnetonka in the past, “just not large trucks like the one that occurred on Aug. 10.”

In a word of caution, the Orono Police Chief said “don’t be distracted while driving, watch for caution signs, be aware of the weight in trucks and drive accordingly.”

The Orono Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Long Lake Fire Department and Burda’s Towing.
