Tennis team wins at tournament

The tennis team has had a great interest with 39 students signing up for the 2017-2018 season. With such a large number of girls, the coaches are excited to have a large number of players to utilize and move around.

The Varsity girls tennis team started out their season with a win in the North/South Tournament that was held in Park Rapids on Friday, Aug. 18.

The girls went 2-0 in their first two matches of the tournament that day.

The first match up was against Roseau, which ended in a close win for the ladies of 4-3.

The next match up came with Park Rapids with a 5-0 victory.

The rain moved in and ended the tournament before any more match play could happen, so they looked forward to their next match.

Both Varsity and JV participated in a doubles tournament at home on Aug. 21 against Farmington, New Ulm and St. Anthony.

The team showed great strength, however again Mother Nature ended their efforts with rain.

There was also an away match against Hutchinson on Aug. 22. However, the breakdown of team scores are not yet available.

The varsity and JV teams will play their next away match against Holy Family on Sept. 12.
